Wider paper, heavier grammage and a longer bag pitch put more load on every station, so the SM-70-P is not simply a stretched SM-77-P. The frame section, the cross-cut servo and the bottom-forming drum are all sized up, and the delivery is lengthened to let heavier bags settle before stacking.
For customers moving from plastic to paper carrier bags under a national ban, this is usually the right first machine: the formats it covers are exactly the ones retail chains tender for.
The four-colour flexo deck is the most common option on this model — retail bags are almost always printed.
How it works
A 1200 mm reel on a shaftless stand with hydraulic lift — at this width a reel is too heavy to load by hand. Four flexo decks print the carrier-bag artwork before the web reaches the former.
Carrier-bag paper is stiffer, so the forming plate is longer and the gusset formers are driven rather than passive. The longitudinal glue line is wider and applied hot for the bond strength a loaded shopping bag needs.
After the bottom is folded and glued, a press section holds the base under pressure while the adhesive sets — skip this and heavy bags fail at the seam. The extended delivery stacks and offsets counted batches ready for banding.
